LUCKNOW: BJP, the main opposition party in Uttar Pradesh, is likely to bring a no-confidence motion against the Mulayam government during the current winter session of the state Legislature, beginning November 8. However, the final decision in this regard would be taken during the BJPLP meeting after consulting other opposition parties, including the BSP.

Talking to TOI, the BJP state president Keshari Nath Tripathi said that the party was contemplating to bring a no-confidence motion, depending upon the opposition support and unity. "We would talk to the BSP leadership and other opposition group and if they agree, we may bring the no-confidence motion against the Mulayam government in the winter session," stated Tripathi.

Tripathi has deputed the BJP Legislature Party leader Lalji Tandon to hold talks with the BSP and other opposition party leaders. Since it requires 1/5th support of the total strength of the house to bring no-confidence motion against the ruling coalition, the BJP needs support at least from the BSP to fulfil the mandatory provision.

"I have deputed Tandonji to hold talks with BSP and other opposition party leaders and explore the possibility of bringing a no-confidence motion," he added.

When asked, the BJPLP leader told TOI that everyone was fed up with the Mulayam government and in the given circumstances it was imperative for the opposition parties to get people rid of the present regime. The present government was serving the business interests of few industrialists only at the cost of the state exchequer," he rued.

"The BJP would talk to the BSP leadership and if the two agree, we would bring the no-confidence motion.
